Historic
Churches By County
|
Under each county linked below, you will find a list of churches by name, latitude and longitude, and USGS quad map location. Additional information may also be provided, if available. If a history or photograph series has been done for a particular church, there will be a hyperlink to the location of that document. Additions or corrections to this database are welcomed and encouraged. If you know of a particular church not listed on the county pages below, please send its full current and historic name (as some churches have changed names over the years), county, and the latitude and longitude of its location to WVCPA for addition to this database. Keep in mind that it is not the primary purpose of WVCPA to provide histories and photos of all historic churches in West Virginia. However, we do provide links to locations where specific histories may be found, and make such documents and photos in the course of our research. We will also accept historic accounts of churches and photos, either current or from years past, for posting here as an alternative to (or in addition to) other sites whose main goal is to provide such information. The photos and text linked to here, and on subsequent WVCPA pages, are copyrighted in their entirety by the person who photographed or wrote about the church. They are not owned by WVCPA, unless specifically stated on the individual page or photograph, and therefore WVCPA may not give permission for their reprinting. It would be in our best interest to warn you that using any portion of these documents or photos for any purpose is considered an infringement of the copyright and prosecutable under law, unless appropriate permission has been granted by the owner of the material. |
