Cemetery Name: |
Lady
Dunn Cemetery |
|
County: | Kanawha | |
USGS Quad: | Montgomery | |
Coordinates: | 38.1892ºN 81.3450ºW
Maintained by: | Family and volunteers
Land owner: | Massey Energy Company
Date added to WVCPA register: | June 2005
Condition of cemetery**: | Fair (May 2007)
Accessibility: | This
cemetery is located on the north side of US Route 60 across from
the security shed at the entrance to coal loading facility, almost
directly opposite the city of Montgomery, WV along the Kanawha
River. Permission to enter the site can be obtained at the
Massey Energy Company security shed, across US Route 60 from the
access road to the property, weekdays. See map
for directions.
At the cemetery itself, the paths are quite steep and most covered with heavy underbrush. It is not suited for those with difficulty getting about. The short roadway up to the concrete block building at the bottom of the hill next to the cemetery is quite passable, and now well-maintained by Massey Energy. There is ample room to park off the road (please do so, as this is an active mining site) at that block building, and good room to turn around as well when leaving. |
