[Not 100% certain this is
Philip Pickens' stone, it is
so deteriorated (and was mostly buried before we photographed it) it is
nearly impossible to make out what little remains of the inscription. What
could be read was most of "P.H. Pickens". The stone is located
right alongside Mary A. Pickens, and just behind his parents Spencer and
Margaret Pickens' tombstone. No other child is known in Spencer and
Margaret's family with those initials. There IS a marker for Philip in
Stephens Cemetery alongside his wife Eliza Adeline that is more legible.
If this is an additional memorial marker for Philip, he died on May 10,
1890 at the age of 32 yrs, 4 mos., 19 ds. - making his birth date Dec.
21, 1857] |
