Comments: Dates in Red are not inscribed on the tombstone and have either been calculated based on death date or are as a result of research on the individual.

A reading of this cemetery and death record research of it was last conducted by Violette Machir in October of 1968, and was published under the name of "Waggener-McCulloch-Neale Cemetery" in the Lewis District portion of "Mason County, W.Va. Cemetery Inscriptions", Vol. 1. At that time it was noted that there were at least 20 unmarked graves here. Additionally, there is a note that a previous landowner here, Andrew Waggener, "is said to have owned several slaves before the Civil War, and the story is that they are buried on a hill in back of what is known as the old Pete Neal house in back of this cemetery".

Our sincere thanks to Mary Richardson for bringing this cemetery to our attention, and for her admirable concern and care expressed for this cemetery and those lying at rest in it. Her stewardship of this cemetery is to be commended, and we hope that we are able to help her in finding assistance to care for the cemetery that has been forgotten all too long.
