Cemetery Reading

Cemetery Name:

Jacobs (David H. Jacobs family)

No images available yet

County: Mason
USGS Quad: Elmwood
Coordinates: near 38.6966ºN  -81.8430ºW
Maintained by: Unknown
Land owner: Lewis Whaley family
Date added to WVCPA register: May 2005
Condition of cemetery**: Unknown
Accessibility: This cemetery is located east of Elmwood about 0.8 miles from where Tribble Road makes a sharp left turn heading towards Tribble.  The cemetery is reportedly located up a steep hillside a modest distance off Tribble Road to the left heading towards Tribble, up Sapsucker Run (where the first little bridge is that the road crosses after leaving Elmwood). There is a wide spot at the bridge where a gated driveway climbs up a hill alongside the road, and as we recall a gate into the pasture that lies on the banks of Sapsucker Creek. There is no road going to this cemetery - access is not that easy. WVCPA staff spoke with the Whaley's in February 2006, and at that time they were unaware of where the cemetery might be exactly, and promised to search for clues to its location on the property. When we know more of its location and are able to get in and photograph it, we will.

Comments:

Dates in Red are not inscribed on the tombstone and have either been calculated based on death date or are as a result of research on the individual.

If you will be visiting this cemetery, please inquire with the Whaley's (the folks that live up the hill on the same side of the road as the cemetery, as it's located on their land - Tim Whaley is usually on site and knows the area very well).  If any of you are successful in locating this old family cemetery and are able to take photos of the tombstones and the area around the cemetery, please let us know.  We have out-of-state family researchers hoping to see photos of their ancestors' tombstones.
