Dates in Red
are not inscribed on the tombstone and have either been calculated based on
death date or are as a result of research on the individual.
This cemetery is known to some as the Hoschar Cemetery, though no Hoschar's are known to
be buried here.
WVCPA volunteer Alice Click has provided the
latest access conditions for getting to this cemetery, based her recent trip
there. She also provided the photos on this page. In her email, Alice writes:
"Susan Woodall Zearley is believed to
be the daughter of Jacob and Caroline Zearley from Fayette County, PA, who
lived in Iowa for a while and came to Jackson County. Her name is
listed in a Zearley Family Sketch (Jackson County Past and Present) on
page 509 from information submitted by Ray K. Cadle. The cemetery
located in a cedar thicket not far from the Foster Chapel Church along
an ATV trail. Two monuments flank the Susan Woodall Zearley monument:
Mary 1879-1896 and James 1877-1892. Another monument is among the stones
John L. Williams 1847-1902.
John L. Williams is believed to have been
born at Plymouth, Mercer County, Virginia in 1847 and died in 1902 at
Danstown, Jackson County, West Virginia (WVCPA note: Danstown is located
just east of the cemetery, down along a creek bottom - see topo maps of the
cemetery location for more information). Also, it is believed he
married Louisa Frances Cadle in 1861. She was born 10 June 1842 in
Mercer County, Virginia, and died 24 April 1902 in Danstown, Jackson County,
West Virginia. Children of this union may be: Albert Lee b.1862;
John A. b.1865; William Andrew b. 24 July 1867; Allen Larkin b.1869; Geo. R.
b.1871; Charles Otmer b.1873; Bellezora Luella b.1875; Rufas Tilden b.1877;
Augusta Valentine b.1880; and Thomas b.1882. Information given
by someone who grew up in the Danstown area. It may or may not be
correct."
