This is a pretty little family cemetery, located on a
knoll overlooking Plum Orchard just east of Grasslick Creek in Jackson County. It is in very well-maintained
condition.
When driving to the cemetery, be sure to take the
route in from the Belgrove side of the cemetery (CR 34-14) rather than the one
that comes from the west (unless you'd like to drive through Grasslick
Creek!). Even though published maps give the impression that you can get
there from the I-71 frontage road, the Grasslick crosses that road not far
west of the cemetery. When we were there in April 2004, the creek was running
a good 2 feet deep where the roadbed was, and the west bank where the road
went into the creek was pretty muddy. CR 34-14 is an 'unimproved' road, but
was quite passable by car in April. We'd recommend taking CR 19-3 north
from the east side of I-71 at the Kenna exit towards Belgrove, taking a left
onto CR 34-14 when you get to it. Mind where you drive, as there are a
few high rocks in the road and some corresponding ruts. Just past a little
house that's situated on your left, (it's on the other side of the creek from
the road), start watching for a gated drive that climbs steeply back up the
hill on your right hand side. It is just a short distance past the house
where Mr. Herman Anderson was living in April 2004 (his grand-niece Drema and her
husband David are the caretakers of the cemetery). That gated drive
leads up to the cemetery. It is not marked with any sign, and there is barely
room for one small car to park right up to the gate off the road.
